Why signatures need exact sizes
Job applications, exam forms and government portals specify signature boxes in millimeters — commonly 50×20mm or 6×2cm. Upload a wrongly-sized signature and the portal either rejects it or squishes it into the box. At 300 DPI, 50×20mm equals 591×236 px and 6×2cm equals 709×236 px — pick yours from the dropdown above.
For the cleanest result, scan on plain white paper at 300 DPI or higher. PNG keeps thin pen strokes crisp; this tool saves PNGs as PNG automatically.
Tips
- Scan on white paper. A clean white background scans best — avoid ruled notebook paper, the lines survive resizing.
- PNG keeps strokes crisp. Photograph or scan as PNG when you can; thin pen lines stay sharp instead of JPEG-smudging.
- Don’t upscale tiny signatures. Enlarging a small signature softens the strokes — scan at 300 DPI or higher to start big.
- Crop tight first. Trim empty paper around the signature before resizing so it fills the mm box properly.
- Match the form’s box. Measure the signature box on the form — 50×20mm and 6×2cm look similar but are not interchangeable.
