Why convert WebP back to JPG?
WebP is technically superior — smaller files, transparency support, modern codec. But the real world has not fully caught up: plenty of upload forms, desktop applications, printers and older systems still reject WebP files outright, or display them as broken icons.
Converting to JPG is the universal adapter. The output opens everywhere — every browser since forever, every email client, every office suite, every upload form. You trade a little file size for the one thing that matters in these moments: it just works.
Tips
- This is the compatibility move. Use it when something rejects your WebP — upload forms, old apps, printers, office software.
- Transparency becomes white. If your WebP has transparency, JPG flattens it to white — the tool warns you first.
- 90% quality is plenty. The source WebP is already efficient; 90% JPG preserves it faithfully without bloat.
- Keep the WebP too. For web use the WebP remains the better file — convert a copy for the stubborn system, keep the original.
